Today, I got up before the chickens (well, not really; we don’t have chickens – yet). I deftly crept out of the house to stake the peppers before they toppled; and, to have a couple of quiet dew soaked minutes alone in the garden. Of course, my littlest garden girl also got up with the chickens, slipped on her rain boots and followed me out there in her nightgown. I was a bit frustrated that my plans for a few minutes of alone time were foiled, again, but then I remembered why I started this garden in the first place. This whole project was so that my little girls could experience the miracles of nature first hand. I was excited to show my bed-headed little shadow our first vegetables – a solid sign of success.
